Communities Are Like Subreddits
Jun. 26th, 2023 04:19 pmThe closest thing Dreamwidth has to a subreddit is a community.
You can search for communities similar to your favorite subreddits using the Interests page or search box in your blog. To find active communities, you can also visit
followfriday where there is a new topical list each week.
If you don't find a good match, you could launch a new community. Anyone making a community to replace a subreddit could use "r_" or "reddit_" or "subreddit_" as a prefix to indicate what it is. Then put "Reddit" and "Subreddit" in the Interests to make it searchable.
Don't overlook individual blogs, though. A thematic blog and its dedicated audience can have quite lively conversations on a specific topic. While many folks blog about diverse topics, some are really about only one thing, or have a hugely active topic or few that dominate the posts. On the Interests page you can choose to view all matches, only communities, or only blogs.
